Love in action and in truth

Posted by Tim :: Ministry News

Last weekend, our SALT project day focused on fixing up the Agape House where we meet and eat. The Agape House is an old mainline church building next to UIC that's been used as a hang out for liberal social/ political groups for years.
We really wanted to work hard on this project as if working for the Lord and not for men (Col. 3: 23). We also wanted to bless the Agape House and hopefully paint a better picture of evangelical Christians than what many who use this place are used to.
Well, Dan Jones (our awesome project coordinator) got the following e-mail from the Agape House office manager after the project day was done. It speaks for itself!

Hi Dan!

I am not only PLEASED, I am in AWE!!! Your team accomplished so much
and did it sooo well!!! I know the Board will be especially pleased!
It really looks like a whole different kitchen with the rearrangement
of appliances! That is MUCH better!! The windows are BEAUTIFUL and I
really like what you did in the "campus minister" office!! I'll be
able to finish off the rest so the new person will feel they can come
in and make it their own.

The parking lot looks great - I love seeing the lines and numbers!!
I'm so glad the weeds are gone. I felt bad mentioning that at the
last minute but when the neighbor complained, I realized that should
be moved up on the list of things the building needed.

Thanks so much for your manner and attitude working with me offering
suggestions and finding out what I had in mind. You are a good

Now - back to work - with a big smile on my face.

THANKS so very much for all you and your team have done and will do!!!

AWESOME. Well done.

As one member of SALT who did not participate in the work on Saturday, I wanted to say that it looks MUCH better. I love the new floor in the kitchen. Great work everyone.

Well thanks, I can't take too much credit. Jon Fisher was really the man with the kitchen. Without him, well, I'm sure it'd look horrible!
