The worst news to come out of Washington to date

Posted by Tim :: Tim's thoughts

As much as things with the economy, bailouts, and health care reform concern me, the effort to repeal the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) concerns me the most. God created us to work best a certain way. That way is to be raised in a stable, loving one husband & one wife home. For a national government not to affirm and protect that is to shoot itself in the foot and slowly bleed to death. And it's not just "America" I'm concerned about, but all the millions of people who will be deeply hurt... whose lives will be ruined because we wouldn't take a stand on what both natural law and biblical law mandates.

Jesus strongly affirmed marriage as between one man and one woman in Matthew 19:3-8.

And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?"

He answered, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."

They said to him, "Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?"

He said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

God help us!

News blurb:
Obama follows through, files to repeal DOMA

A conservative black pastor in Washington, DC, is expressing outrage over President Obama's decision to file a legal brief in support of repealing the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
A new brief filed yesterday by Justice Department lawyer Scott Simpson declares that the Obama administration "does not support DOMA as a matter of policy," and "believes that the Act is discriminatory and should be repealed by Congress." In a written statement, President Obama states that he has "long held that DOMA prevents LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered] couples from being granted equal rights and benefits." (See earlier story) In fact, as a U.S. senator representing Illinois, Obama stated his support for "the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act."

I realize I'm just commenting to myself here, but I think the aberrant tornado event in MN needs to be reflected on by every God fearing man and woman.

Storm came out of nowhere

No sirens sounded and no tornado warnings were issued in the city before the storm hit. Rain had been falling most of the day in the Twin Cities metro, but the storm came as a major surprise to everyone in the area

The tornado in Minneapolis was a gentle but firm warning to the ELCA and all of us: Turn from the approval of sin.
